Back to Work After Cancer: Helping to Make the Transition an Easier One

The Marie Keating Foundation has launched a Back to Work After Cancer Guide offering information and advice to both employers and employees to help support what can be a difficult transition.

Receiving a cancer diagnosis can have a lasting impact”, said a spokesperson, “and it can be daunting for a survivor to consider returning to work, and confusing for employers to understand how to help.”

For employers, a dedicated guide will help managers answer any questions around their employee’s illness and how a return to work might be managed.

The employee guide offers advice on planning a phased return and knowing what to expect as you settle back into your role.

Helpful tips include managing stressful deadlines and targets and scheduling any medical appointments

A dedicated booklet also offers advice from women and men who have experienced cancer first hand, and highlights potential issues like financial pressures, how to approach your manager and colleagues, and easing yourself back into your role.
